We have some exciting news to report and hoping you might partner with us in helping hurting teens. In January, Julie Davies and I spoke to 200 middle school students at The Kings Academy on depression, anxiety and suicide. To our amazement, the teens took 200 Shut Up books and were standing in line wanting more. We have been overwhelmed by the response to the Shut Up books by teens and college students. We can’t keep enough books in stock for the need. Our mission is to give away a Shut Up book to every teen who wants one, and cannot afford to buy it. You may remember that the book teaches youth about depression, anxiety, eating disorders and other mental illness that is so common among teens today. Despite all the counselors and help available, suicide is still the 2nd leading cause of death among teens 10-24 according to the Centers for Disease Control. The Shut UP book immediately connects teens to suicide hotlines, K-Love pastors, resources on depression, anxiety and mental illness. Most importantly, the book connects teens to Jesus, the Living God, and empowers them to shut up the negative voices in His name.
Would you prayerfully consider helping us give away free books in Hawaii? We need to raise $2,000 for the 500 books we are giving away next week to teens at the HIM (Hawaiian Islands Ministry) Conference March 16-18, 2017.
